The Psychology of Taylor Swift Fans

Taylor Swift is a global phenomenon. Wherever she performs, thousands of fans travel long distances and pay significant amounts to see her live. This has even resulted in political tensions in Southeast Asia, particularly when Taylor Swift chose to exclusively hold concerts in Singapore, excluding neighboring countries. Mrs. Swift's impact on the economy is profound, leading to the coining of the term "Swiftonomics" to describe her influence on the global economy. The foundation of Swiftonomics lies in her fans, affectionately known as Swifties, who have formed a global community. The current research aims to comprehend the sociodemographic and psychological characteristics of Swifties worldwide to gain deeper insights into the Taylor Swift phenomenon. Individuals aged 18 or older are welcome to participate in this research, regardless of whether they consider themselves Swifties. In fact, it's crucial that both Swifties and non-Swifties contribute to this study to enhance our understanding of Swiftonomics.

By participating, you consent to the storage of your anonymous data on platforms such as the Open Science Framework, in accordance with open science principles aimed at promoting transparency and accessibility for researchers and interested individuals. This implies that your anonymous data will be openly accessible to all interested parties.

As a token of appreciation for your participation, personalized feedback will be offered regarding your favorite Taylor Swift album and the reasons behind your interest in her, if applicable. Additionally, all study participants will gain insights into their personality. Your anonymous responses will be compared with the aggregated responses of all other participants in the study. Moreover, you can bookmark the feedback website and revisit it later to delve into insights from an even larger pool of survey participants.

This project is independent and not affiliated with Taylor Swift or her management in any way. According to the Ethics Committee of Ulm University (Ulm, Germany) this project does not require IRB consultancy.
